When Charlotte was a newborn, I was desperate to get out and meet other people, and also wanted to get involved in something just for me. So I called the public library and asked about book clubs and whether I'd be able to bring a newborn (as she mainly slept and ate at that point!). They said sure, but I had to go on a waiting list. Well, about a year later, they called and there was a spot! So I joined but manage to line up sitters for Charlotte as she is much too rambunctious to take to a book club now.
So everyone is older than me, but it is great to meet new people, outside of the mommy and baby world. The women (and one man) have great input and perspectives and we often have lively debates! We meet once a month and read a new book every month. Some of my favorites so far have been:
