a little thing

Sometimes the little things make such a difference. Before Christmas I decided to start the tradition of lighting a candle every time we eat supper together at the kitchen table. This one little act has changed the way we eat supper. We slow down when we are eating. We all talk about our days. We enjoy dinner and do not rush to the next activity. Without nagging or feeling sad about how rushed our lives are, I light a candle instead. I meant it to be an advent tradition, but it has continued and I love it.

What simple traditions do you have that have impacted your family?
